About Mark
Mark earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Georgia in 1991. While attending the university, he was chosen to participate in a research program to study deforestation in coastal Georgia by the use of aerial imagery. Following his undergraduate
degree in biology, Mark earned his medical degree from Tulane University in 1995 and has been practicing medicine for nearly 25 years in the field of emergency medicine. During his medical training he co-authored notable papers in the fields of neurosurgery and vascular surgery. Mark also performed research in the development of portable medical devices designed to prolong the life of explanted human organs preceding their transplant. Among his many recognitions, Mark has been honored as a recipient of the American Venous Forum Research Award for his contribution to improved vascular imaging techniques.
Mark went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from Tulane University while working as a physician. Utilizing both his medical and legal training, Dr. Whitehead has worked with some of the leading attorneys in the country where he evaluated pharmaceutical and medical device projects for commercial viability. Mark also has been involved in securities litigation since 2003 and in 2019 joined the national securities firm of Kahn, Swick and Foti.
Mark is licensed to practice medicine in both Florida and Louisiana, and is licensed to practice law in the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United State District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, all state courts in Louisiana, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida, and all state courts in Florida and the District of Columbia.
In addition to his many other interests, Mark is a licensed commercial multi-engine rated pilot who also enjoys flying sailplanes.
